About Me...
Hi and welcome to my website
I'm Deb and I've worked as a freelance journalist for the past 23 years. In that time I've been lucky enough to work for some amazing people over the years - publishers, editors and businesses alike and I'm very fortunate to be able to do a job that I absolutely love. Below are some questions I get asked regularly...

Did you always want to be a writer?
Whilst I've always loved writing and it was my favourite subject at school, I actually wanted to be a vet when I was younger, and although I studied sciences at college, I knew I wasn't clever enough to make it into vet school. I do however have a menagerie of animals at home.

How did you become a journalist?
After college I drifted from one job to another just as a means to survive financially. When my second daughter was born I wanted a job where I could work from home, so I studied a course with the London College of Journalism, qualified as a journalist and started working for my local rag as a freelancer.

What was your first journalist job?
My first job was as a reporter for my local newspaper - I covered a story about sightings of a ghost in the village I lived in at the time. I was paid per line, so I had to stretch the story out to earn as much as I could - despite my best efforts I earned about £5 for my first article!

What's your favourite part of the job?
I love everything about my job because it's so diverse. One day I might be researching for a book or an article, the next I might be interviewing a celebrity. Some days I'm reporting in court, or I might have to go undercover in order to get some information. No two days are the same.

What else do you write?
I also write books and have 14 published by main-steam publishers. I mainly write non-fiction but I have also had two best-selling novels published. I'm currently working on a new novel set in India and a book about property investment. I have ghost-written eight books for other people.

What do you do in your spare time?
I love going out with friends or sitting in a café and watching the world go by. I love cars and driving, summer and exploring cities in Europe. A lot of my time is also taken up running my property investment company.
